MoneyWiz MCP Server · Open source · MIT
Ask about your MoneyWiz data. Keep access read-only.
A useful financial answer starts with the ledger. This connector gives an MCP-compatible client a bounded way to retrieve accounts, transactions, remaining scheduled bills and per-currency cashflow from a MoneyWiz database on your Mac.

Read-only by design
Ask which bills are due this week or month, optionally for a specific account. The server stays permanently read-only, with no raw SQL tool or financial write helper.
Currencies stay explicit
Decimal-safe calculations preserve precision. Bill queries separate expenses from transfers, with totals per currency. There is no implicit exchange-rate conversion or mixed-currency total.
Incomplete means incomplete
Pagination and completeness metadata make result limits visible. Unsupported recurrence rules flag forecasts and totals as incomplete. Unsupported schema or integrity conditions produce explicit errors.
Why this project exists
The maintained 2.x line builds on Juan Carlos Valerio Arrieta and contributors’ original MoneyWiz MCP project. It strengthens read-only behavior, schema handling, monetary arithmetic, dates and completeness so unsupported conditions are reported explicitly.
Based on the original open-source project, with complete Git history retained and MIT licensing preserved. Independent and unofficial; not affiliated with or endorsed by SILVERWIZ LLC.
From question to evidence
01
Choose the question and scope
Specify the account or deliberately chosen account group, topic, dates and currency relevant to your question.
02
Retrieve the stored evidence
The local server reads the MoneyWiz database and returns factual results through the connected client.
03
Check against MoneyWiz
Reconcile supported results with MoneyWiz-produced exports before relying on your own setup.

Your information and permissions
The server performs no financial-data network calls and has no telemetry exporter or server-side network transport. Requested results go to the connected client, which may send selected results to its model provider under that client’s privacy policy and settings.
Scope and limitations
This is factual retrieval, not financial advice. Bill queries cover remaining schedules; paid or skipped history is not reconstructed, and schedule state does not prove bank settlement. Unsupported recurrence rules make forecasts and totals incomplete. Investment, forex and loan valuations remain unsupported where MoneyWiz semantics have not been proven. Validate supported balances and summaries against your own MoneyWiz exports. The read-only guarantee covers financial rows, schema and WAL records; SQLite may use normal locking or shared-memory metadata.
What you need
macOS with MoneyWiz or a compatible MoneyWiz SQLite database, Python 3.10 or later, and an MCP-compatible client with local stdio support. uv is recommended for installing the locked environment.

Personal Intelligence →
Personal Intelligence supplies the source-selection and evidence workflow. MoneyWiz MCP supplies an optional, separate read-only ledger connection. Each has its own setup; neither installs the other.
